1.Who this policy covers
This policy applies to the Trekkr.life website and services, including purchases, accounts, the Adventure Passport, the marketplace and business directory, our emails, and the Adventure Builder. Trekkr is the organization responsible for the personal information described here.
2.Information we collect
We collect:
- Information you give us — such as your name and email address when you create an account, buy a guide or membership, submit a business or rig listing, or contact us.
- Business-listing information — details, photos, logos, descriptions, prices and links that businesses provide for their listings, which are published publicly by their nature.
- Transaction information — a record of what you purchased. Card payments are processed by Stripe; we receive a confirmation but do not collect or store your full card number.
- Automatically-collected information — usage and device data such as your IP address, browser type, pages viewed and referring links, collected through cookies and similar technologies.
3.Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working (for example, to keep you signed in), to remember preferences, and to understand how the site is used through privacy-respecting analytics. You can control or block cookies through your browser settings; some features may not work properly without them. Where required, we ask for your consent to non-essential cookies.
4.How we use your information
We use personal information to: provide and operate the Service; process payments and deliver guides and memberships; respond to your messages; send you communications you have asked for or consented to; understand and improve the Service; keep the Service secure; and meet legal obligations.
5.Email and marketing communications
We send commercial electronic messages (such as newsletters and promotions) only where we have your consent or another lawful basis under Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Every promotional message identifies us and includes an easy way to unsubscribe. You can opt out at any time using the unsubscribe link or by emailing hello@trekkr.life.
7.How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described here or as required by law — for example, we keep transaction records for accounting and tax purposes — and then delete or de-identify it.
8.Your privacy rights
Subject to applicable law, you may ask to access or correct your personal information, or withdraw your consent to certain uses (such as marketing). To make a request, email hello@trekkr.life. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
9.Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to limit access to it.
10.Children’s privacy
The Service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11.Information processed outside Canada
Some of our service providers (such as Stripe and our hosting and email providers) may store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States. Where that happens, the information may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions.
12.Third-party links
The Service links to third-party websites and businesses that have their own privacy practices. We are not responsible for those practices; please review their policies.
13.Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the “Effective date” above and post the updated version here.
