Government campgrounds, private RV parks, free Crown-land and BLM ground, and walk-in backcountry sites — gathered from the parks' and operators' own pages, the federal recreation database, state and provincial agencies, and open mapping data. We're building toward the largest free campground database in North America. Every entry links out to where we got it, and where we couldn't confirm a detail, we say so on the spot.
This is a planning tool, not a booking system. Almost none of it is first-hand — it is compiled from each campground's own page, public agency databases and open mapping data, date-stamped when we checked it. The guides we've written go deeper on the ground they cover; everything else is here so you can find it at all. Fees move, gates open late, seasons shift, and a road that was fine last August may be closed this one.
Fields we could not confirm are tagged unconfirmed right beside the value — not buried in a footnote. Anything we simply do not know reads Not stated. That is never the same as none. Confirm the flagged fields with the operator before you commit fuel to it.
